Ready for Spring Cleaning?

Posted on: March 29th, 2018 by Derek Barmer No Comments

With the first day of spring behind us, it’s that time of year again! Over the course of the winter months, your home has inevitably accumulated some dirt and is in need of spring cleaning. So, where do you start and what areas of your home need the most attention? The to-do list can seem daunting, and it may be tempting to put off. Your cleaning list will include quick tasks and some tasks that will require a little more time and attention. For starters, let some air fill your home by opening the windows!

This is the best time of year to go beyond the typical floor washing and vacuuming in your house. Let’s go over some of the uncommon chores that get overlooked the rest of the year. Ceiling Fans and vents are probably well overdue for a cleaning. Once these are cleaned, the walls and baseboards can get a good washing.    Although you may frequently wash your bedsheets, the mattress cover and pillows should also be washed at least once a year to get rid of any allergens. This is also a really good time to have your air conditioning unit serviced as we change out air filters to help keep allergies at bay.

Life gets busy, and most of the time it may seem hard enough to just get the kitchen cleaned.

If you can set one day aside to devote to the yearly clean-out, your whole home will look, feel and run cleanly and efficiently. After lots of wear and tear, your sofas may need some spot-cleaning or vacuuming. The lamps and ceiling fans in every room should also be dusted. Humidifiers can actually make your home sicker, if they aren’t cleaned occasionally – add this to your list of once-a-year cleaning.

Now is the time to pull everything out of your closets that you can toss, store for next year, or donate.

When it comes to the exterior of the home, it’s time to wash the thresholds and the siding of the home.  Make sure the doors and windows receive some TLC as well by giving them a good wash. Finally, in an effort to welcome springtime in the triad, sweep off your porch and walkways.

You’ll want to get your air conditioning unit serviced now before the dog days of summer start!  Let Central Carolina Air Conditioning Plumbing & Electric inspect and clean your A/C units to keep your unit in warranty and keep your family safe!  Preventative maintenance as important for your A/C unit as it is your car!  Read all the services we perform on your unit here.

Central Carolina Air Conditioning Plumbing & Electric

Are you eagerly anticipating the days when you can go outside again and play with your kids, or have a BBQ on your back patio? Before getting too excited about warmer weather, you’re probably thinking about the condition of the yard. This should not be a hindrance to the quality of time you spend outside in your yard. It may not be an option or desire to hire a full-time lawn maintenance crew so here are a few tips for how YOU can bring your yard to life after the sleeping months of winter.  It might be time to add that beautiful pool or waterscape to your yard and Central Carolina Air Conditioning Plumbing & Electric can handle the plumbing part for you!

  • Winter months probably left your lawn scattered with branches, leaves or twigs. Take some time to clear this in preparation for mowing.
  • Now is the time for some weeding. If you’re one of those that relishes in instantly gratifying tasks, this day of lawn work will provide just that.
  • Another trick to instantly sharpen your curb appeal is edging the flower beds and lawn. This is also useful for cutting out any bald spots in the lawn.
  • Do you have bushes that line the front of your home or part of your yard? Hedge these bushes to give them a nice, clean shape.
  • Add an instant pop of color by painting all your yard furniture, which has probably become dingy by this point.  Just doing this task will significantly enhance your lawn. While we’re talking about lawn furniture, it’s a good idea to go ahead and hose off your patio, porch or deck that’s holding the furniture.
  • When you mow your lawn, mow high so that it cultivates the growth of thick blades and provides the full effect of a luscious lawn. If you want to add a finishing touch to your lawn, create a stone or tile walkway. Your lawn should be looking pristine by this point – okay, maybe not pristine, but pretty close!

If you’re looking for adding value to your home (and yard!) by adding a waterscape or the pool you’ve always dreamed ofcent, let us help with the plumbing!  You probably don’t want to tackle this yourself and we can easily set it up for you.

How To Enjoy Spring in the Triad

Posted on: March 29th, 2018 by Derek Barmer 1 Comment

We’re blessed enough to live in the Triad – with the beach and mountains both within reasonable drive. Greensboro offers fun family activities all year round, but most especially during the spring and summer months. There are plenty of places to go and things to do outdoors and indoors as well, if that’s more your preference.

If you have appreciation for historic events, then you’ll love the rich historical experiences that Greensboro has to offer. The Guilford Courthouse National Military Park has both inside and outside areas to visit. The Visitor Center hosts artifacts and information on the famous battle, and there’s also a tour road for those looking to take an historic drive. Get a taste of culture by visiting the Greensboro Historical Museum, or the International Civil Rights Museum, located downtown. Also located downtown is the Children’s Museum. This is a great way for your children to expend energy on a rainy spring day.

One of the greatest things about springtime in the Triad is the ability to go fruit picking! There are multiple local farms in the area that enable you to pick your own blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, apples and peaches. With trees and flowers beginning to bloom, there’s no better time to take a stroll through the Bicentennial Gardens or the Greensboro Arboretum. The Benjamin Park and Bur-Mill Park also offer opportunity to get out and enjoy nature.

What better way to relax after an eventful day than to enjoy good food and drinks? Greensboro offers many options. Multiple breweries have recently popped up in the triad. Known for some incredible eateries, there are lots of eclectic options for eating in Greensboro. From fine dining to local hot spots – and cuisine to country fried, Greensboro can satisfy any taste buds.

Also remember Spring is a great time to have your air conditioning unit prepped for Summer! From changing air filters to get rid of dust mites to servicing your unit to keep it in warranty, we can easily and quickly keep your unit running efficiently.  We want to keep your family comfortable and safe this Spring!
